Students today enjoy unfettered access to the wealth of knowledge that has accumulated worldwide in the last several hundred years, all thanks to technology.
They can tap into the global information pool at anytime and anywhere. Computers are widely available at school. Not only are they found in high schools, but also in the primary grades. Children today almost invariably have home computers. Very often they do not even have to share the family computer as they have their own.
Their use of computers at school is essentially an extension of their extracurricular activities. While their home use of computers may involve gaming, it also includes online research in the preparation of essays, reports and other assignments.
At one time computer users were restricted to specific locations due to the bulkiness of desktop towers. This is no longer the case due to the advent of laptops, tablets and smartphones

Unfortunately,
these technological miracles are a double edged sword. The dark side consists
of undisciplined use by the students of social media. Numerous students are
clearly addicted to their technological devices and lack the self-control to
use them wisely.
Meanwhile,
students can now be connected to communication avenues at any time. Blogs,
social media, instant messaging and even web conferences allow students to
express their creativity and opinions through their own videos, stories, photos.
News and Social Media can be accessed instantly from almost anywhere. This is
changing the way students interact with one another, how they make friends and
even how they will network with their colleagues.
From the educator’ standpoint, technology has provided amazing tools, such as smart boards, and other sophisticated devices like 3D projectors.
Further, post-secondary educational institutions benefit from high tech in performing student evaluations. All of the prestigious universities apply sophisticated software in assessing applicants for admission. One of the most common tests is the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).www.scholarships.com
